Alaska Airlines Infants Policy

Traveling with the kids can be more fun. During the travel, we suggest you keep small comfort things in your carry-on bag, such as small snacks, a security blanket, a favorite pillow, small toys, coloring books and crayons, and small electronic devices. We also suggest, consulting with your baby doctor if you are traveling with your infants via plane.

  • Children below 2 years (24 months), are not required to have their own seat, but you need to inform Alaska Airlines that they will be traveling with a lap infant.
  • One lap child allowed per adult. For instance, if one adult travels with 2 infants who are below 2 years, then the adult traveler has to purchase a seat for each additional infant.
  • Travelers may also purchase a seat for their infant if they have the proper child restraint device.

You can travel domestically free with below 2 years child as long as your child is on your lap.

Will I have to pay for my infant, while traveling internationally?

If you are traveling internationally with the below 2 years child, you will be charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if your child is on the lap.

What infant amenities are available on the aircraft?

Can an adult sit in the Exit Row with the infant?

Child-restraint systems are not permitted in:

  • Any aisle seat.
  • Emergency exit rows.

  • "A" seats in rows 1-4 on flights operated with Embraer E175 aircraft.

The best location for a child restraint system is a window seat, however, it may be placed in the middle seat, if the window seat is not available.

Young children flying alone without a parent or legal guardian are considered to be Unaccompanied Minors. Alaska Airlines offer unaccompanied minor service on a both domestic and international flight for those 5-17 years old.

Junior Jetsetters – An Alaska Airlines unaccompanied minor service

Alaska Airlines welcome all unaccompanied child guest and feel happy to assist them to escort them to their destinations. When your children are under the care of Alaska Airlines, they are supervised at all times.

Junior Jetsetters will receive the following benefits:

  • Unaccompanied child guest has to wear a lanyard and a wristband so that they can easily be recognized by Alaska Airlines as Junior Jetsetter.
  • Unaccompanied child guests will get early boarding to get a comfortable seat.

Few things you should know:

  • Alaska Airlines limits the number of unaccompanied child guests for safety and security.
  • Unaccompanied child guests will not accept if there is any routing interruption of their destinations or connecting flights.
  • Alaska Airlines will not control unaccompanied child guests' personal medication.
  • Unaccompanied child guests are allowed to make calls to a guardian.

There are two types of pet policies:

1- Pets in the cabin

Alaska Airlines allows small pets to travel in the passenger's cabin and charge $100* each way as well as subject to availability.

Rules for pets in the cabin

  • You must be 18 years or older to travel with a pet in the cabin.
  • When traveling with a pet you may not occupy an emergency exit row or bulkhead row.
  • Your pet counts as your carry-on baggage. You may bring one pet carrier and one personal item or one pet carrier and one standard-size carry-on.
  • The first class can hold a total of three pet carriers per flight and the main cabin can hold a total of eight pet carriers per flight.
  • In the passenger cabin following pets are allowed: dogs, cats, rabbits, and household birds.
  • Dogs and cats must be 8 weeks old.
  • The pet must fit in its carrier (including head and tail).
  • Two pets of the same size and species may travel in the same carrier.
